AI Chatbots

“Conversation agent (chat-bot)” or AI Chatbots are simple Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems that allow you to interact with a virtual agent as if you are speaking to an agent. The AI chatbots are based on the underlying principle of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML). The interactions can be simple and straight forward, like asking for a weather report, or more complex, like asking for your mobile configuration settings. Investment in AI is expected to triple in 2017 according to the Forrester report as major companies are tapping into ML and NLP.

There are open-source libraries (software) available which support the NLP functionalities such as POS tagging, tokenizing, Word normalization, language Identity, Spelling Correction List, parser, NER, etc. You can use apache Open NLP or Stanford Open NLP to create your own NLU. Apart from the knowledge of NLP, you also require some knowledge of programming languages such as Python and Java as most of the NLP libraries support these two languages to achieve what you are aiming for.
